Do You Understand pH?

Understanding pH escapes most of us, and it is more complicated than just “I’m too acid.”  A person can be too alkaline, also, so it is important to know how to make changes and what those changes mean.

If you eat more acidic foods than alkalizing foods, or even if you have more acidic emotions than alkalizing emotions, your pH will head toward acid.  Saliva and urine usually register between 5.0 and 7.5  If your urine is testing acid, you can take minerals such as an alkalizing calcium to normalize the cell fluids.

Because the pH scale is logarithmic, a difference of one pH unit represents a tenfold, or 10X change.  So the difference between 6.0 and 7.0 is 100 units.  When your body can no longer rob minerals to protect the tissues, the liver will produce ammonia because it is depleted.  Sometimes the body can’t keep up the production of ammonia and the pH will head toward acid again.

Normal urine pH can be anywhere from 5.5 to 6.8.  Urine pH indicates how the kidneys are using minerals or ammonia in balancing the pH.

Normal pH of the saliva is 6.3 to 6.6.  Saliva pH indicates what the pH is of the fluid that bathes every cell of the body.  So if you give the body an acidic calcium (lactate) you can turn off the ammonia with no further damage and the body can heal. As you can see in the chart below, the cells of the body can only accept nutrients from the blood if the pH is at a certain level.

The body’s immune system sends an enzyme to open pores of abnormal cells, which causes the cells to burst so the abnormal fragments can be taken away by the immune system. ENZYMES CANNOT WORK IN AN ACIDIC ENVIRONMENT! So, if the fluid surrounding the cells is too acidic, the acid will kill the enzyme, and it can no longer work on the cancer. Acid causers include

  • Negative emotions
  • Some medications
  • Coffee, tea, soda
  • Milk, ice cream and cheese (unless raw)
  • Poor digestion
  • Processed foods
  • Too many cooked foods

Some symptoms of pH Imbalance:

  1. Weak lower back
  2. Stiff, painful, clicking joints
  3. sore muscles
  4. Mucus Drip, sinus, asthma
  5. Heartburn, acid reflex, GERD, Colitis, Crohn’s
  6. Psoriasis and discoloring jewelry

So just remember that it is important to check your pH; it is even more important to do a full Reams test.  The body uses Sodium, Calcium, Potassium, and Magnesium to balance pH.  You can use the right calcium, plant-based minerals, the herbs marshmallow and slippery elm (to balance pH in organs, glands, muscles), Una De Gato (respiratory system and joints) and yucca and chaparral for joints and bursa. In the realm of minerals, a calcium can be neutral (gluconate), acidifying (lactate), or alkalizing (coral).  It helps to know your pH to pick the right calcium supplement.  Eating lots of greens will give you a balance of alkaline and acid buffers to nourish you at the cellular level.

Remember the most important thing:  cancer grows in an acidic environment, but it is not just what we eat; the cause is one part diet, but just as much emotions and stress level.  Remember to breathe to alkalize.  Enjoy everyday.  Let it go and let it flow.
